Makeup wonders
People say that a good makeup can do wonders on someone's look. Unfortunately i never had the chance to be on the hands of these amazing makeup artists, but as i'm curious about the subject, i always find time to browse Youtube and see what tips makeup artist are posting there. While watching these videos i found a makeup artist that, well lets say, is not a conventional kind of makeup artists, but it's still amazing to see the kind of transformation you can achieve with makeup. The video is from a girl called Anastasya, who normally is transformed in a cartoon character, but nonetheless, as a makeup artist, she does an amazing work transforming herself not only in cartoons anime's characters but in celebrities like Katy Perry,Lady Gaga and other pop artists.I couldn't resist but post here her video where she transformed herself in Johnny Depp. The result is fantastic (once a girl and suddenly... it's Depp)! Watching these videos only make me be sure of something i already suspected...Yes makeup do wonders, even can transform yourself in somebody else. Fabulous!

Smells like a plaid spirit
Oversized plaid shirt |
Today my post will be about a trend that i was always fan of!
Plaids! Plaids were once a big trend on
the 90s when the grunge movement appeared and it's icons like Kurt Cobain and
his band Nirvana, started to not to only take over the radios but the street
style. Plaid flannel shirt (which were often wrapped at the waist) and
oversize t-shirt were a super cult style during those days. Of course as every
trend it faded away by the end of the 90s, but as a plaid fan I kept wearing it
under the protests of friends who kept saying plaids would never going to
happen again! The good thing about fashion is that trends keeping coming and
going, and it seems plaid made an amazing comeback and got modernized. Good for
me and my plaids outfits! It can be wore and find in any kind of clothing, like
fitted tops, jackets and even cute plaids dresses that will make you look young
and fun! But be careful when matching it with other plaids or prints! Not that
you can't match them, you can! it will give you a daring and unique look, just don't lose your hand on it and make sure
one of them (plaids or prints) is less "flashy" than the other, and have
fun matching them!
As a music lover why not add the song the entitles my post?!Enjoy!

Mickey mouse sneakers |
Cropped sweater |
Black Friday is
( unfortunately) over, but during my shopping spree I notice that of one
of the most loved cartoon characters made a fashion "comeback" at Forever
21. Hey Mickey! Sneakers, accessories , cropped tops and Sweaters with Mickey
and his friends prints are back to warm you up and make your look more fun with
affordable prices (not to mention that it goes well with that Mickey ears headband we all secretly have). I particularly love almost everything that has Mickey on it, but If Mickey prints is not the right
look for you, it's a good choice for your
relatives and friends Christmas gift, as
we always know someone who is just too obsessed with that little mouse!But.. Who can blame them??.. Oh Mickey is so fine he blows our mind!

"it's tough business after all..."
Be an intern is not easy as it seems! You just graduate, got your diploma after all your effort and dedication and Bam,,, realize you are not a student anymore (no more student discount..sad!! ) and are still not really an employee (Healthy insurance???Dental care?? LOL no..want benefits? ask your parents.. )! If the fact of discovering your paycheck has less zeros than your phone bill wasn't enough, i listed 6 "not cool" situations a fashion intern has to deal with.....it's a tough business after all!!!
#1- "The difficult" task of saying good morning!
....Because it's too complicated to some bosses brain to say
"good morning" to their interns. It's Understandable that sometimes we
wake up on the totally wrong side of the
bed, with two left foot, but please. Does it really takes that much effort to
say good morning to that young bubbling creature who cost you less than your
Chanel sun glasses? I don't think so... Education said hello and sent a tweet.
#2- Intern , the office "handyman"
You got the internship! It's your first day of work, you choose
your best cloth, all dress up hat to heels,
make up, walk inside the office
feeling like you waited your whole student life for this moment ....and your
looks and confidence last till the end of the first
day. As the days go by you notice that manual labor are more and more constant to the
point that you may find yourself sweeping the floor (maybe you'll find a fancy
fabric swatch, score!), organizing tables, and even getting free "work out" sessions
walking around the city carrying rolls of fabrics and heavy garments bags....(
i didn't sign up for that...why did they bother
to see my portfolio...and more important...where did i put my sneakers
again??)
#3- The first, the last
Your name comes easily when it's a coffee, errand, filling
or cleaning emergency. But when there's
a giveaway , free gifts, cookies at the office, your name is the last to be
heard..if not forgotten. Assistants, bosses and derivatives.. we like giveaways and get hungry
too! Share like your mothers taught you!
#4- "Errands" Interns worst nightmare
If you are an intern, "Running errands" is a
sentence that's probably giving you chills right now. There's always that super
mega heavy weight errand that all interns had to at least once, twice (or more!), deliver in a far
far away land that took one hour just to arrive there. Yes we got lost and no we
are not and not everyone own a GPS!
#5- Unpaid Internships
,,,Seriously? Do i need to say more? Unpaid intern is the new "slave 2.0 "? ..Come on people, be chic and fair.. PAY.
#6- An "eternity" as an intern
The last day of class seems already so far away. Months have
passed and you are still "the intern". Didn't conquer the right to have your beautiful name inside a
plaque on the table, nor even a company email with your name on it yet. Do you
often find yourself wondering when are they going to hire you? When they will allow you to show your skills
and use all the knowledge you have learned throughout your college life?
Well my fellow interns, patience is a virtue and your strong
will, intelligence and love for fashion
will conquer all! By the end your hard
work will pay off!

" Freezy, Breezy, Beautiful"
Anna Sui 2013 - Prints over colored piece layers |
Brrrrrrrrrrr...with the winter almost knocking on your doors, if
you live on north hemisphere of course, it's more than time to fill your closet
with heavier coats, sweaters and scarves! But its not a reason to put fashion aside!
There're out there many options of heavier clothes to walk around on this cold
weather in style! As it's still Autumn
you can opt to use this season beautiful colors like earth tones, red and yellow
colors, layering your pieces, and matching with fun colored stockings and
gloves! It'll make you look fun and younger even on the most grey days! If you
are searching for a more mature professional look, you can also play with a
bright colored or printed piece layering it with a more sober tailored jacket
or suit ( or why not a colored suit?!). The bright colored/ printed piece will
add a youthful and fresh vibe to your outfit.
Examples of neutral tones combined with vibrant colored pieces.Great colors combination for every occasions.. .but that hat..maybe it was too cold? |

Be Fab, Fun and F.a.s.h !
There's a saying that says "There's a first time to everything". Yes that's true! As it's true that we can always start something new, no matter in what position in life you encounter yourself. And here I'm ..writing my first fashion blog! I recently graduate from a fashion school in NYC, and I must say..I love my career choice! Although I have no doubt (and no regrets!) that I chose what I really would love to do for the rest of my professional life, I end up discovering that, of course, not everything is glamorous about this industry. Not that i thought I'd sit in a fancy coffee shop in the middle of the afternoon and have a informal rendezvous with Jean Paul Gaultier right after my graduation, but i didn't know as well i would find so many" Miranda Priestly" wanna be's, divas and Queen B's on the way!
As an Intern (my current "job") I have experienced a lot of this industry aspects, the ups and downs of dealing with industry people and fellows interns, the stressful but rewarding process of obtaining an internship. and will use this blog to talk not only about fashion, but share my college and internships experiences, as well as some advice I heard throughout my journey.
This is my diary and i'll be discussing every Tuesdays and Thursdays about all aspects that inspires, affect and, why not, bothers me! It will include posts about fashion, movies, music, and everything that make this life Fab Fun and F.a.s.h!!If anyone would like to share your own experiences or works feel free to do so (email me or post a comment), as one of the "TOP TEN" fashion advice is TO NETWORK! Welcome to my blog!Cheers!
Yours,
JLivine
